The Sun Run has been an icon in the Vancouver event scene since 1985 through its ability to introduce running to so many people each year – whether it’s through their running, jogging or walking event categories. Kintec’s mission is to keep people active on their feet for life regardless of their fitness level! That’s why are we are so excited to announce that Kintec is the official footwear and orthotic sponsor of the Vancouver Sun Run.
We invite you to take advantage of our 31-year’s of foot health and biomechanics expertise to help prepare you for your journey towards this year’s Vancouver Sun Run.
Kintec’s Sun Run Learn2Run and RunFaster programs are developed by our in-house experts Dr. Michael Ryan, who’s been studying running-injury epidemiology and footwear for the past 20-years, and ultramarathoner and running coach legend Ryne Melcher. These programs are designed to introduce more people to the fitness and health benefits of running.
If you are new to running (or it’s been a really long time since you last called yourself a ‘runner’) then our Learn2Run program is built for you. The first half of this program uses incremental walking breaks to help gradually introduce the stress of running onto your body before we begin longer continuous running efforts later in the program with the end goal of getting you to run 10 km continuously.
Our RunFaster program is designed for someone who already has some running ‘base’ and is looking to improve on their time. The key feature in the RunFaster program is the distance based workouts help calibrate your efforts more specifically to the actual event, and also include performance-enhancing elements such as interval- and hill-based workouts – On the other hand, if you want guidance from our experienced Run leaders, check out our Run Clinic starting February 8th.
Want to make your training more social? Get you and your friends to join our weeknight Training Clinics! Hosted by 8 different Kintec locations throughout the Lower Mainland, our Training Clinics are guided by our Learn2Run program with instructor-led workouts in a fun and safe environment.
Register quickly though – training starts the week of February 12th!
1 session per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays depending on location)
First 200 registrants receive technical running top.
