Orthotics
Referred By Your Doctor?

Were you referred by your doctor?

If you were referred to Kintec for custom orthotics, please call one of our stores to set up an appointment for a standard clinical assessment.

If you were referred to us for sports medicine bracing, such as knee, ankle, or wrist braces, please phone our stores or visit us for more details. Please bring your prescription script with you as it will be required for both your file and your extended medical plan.

What is involved in a Standard Custom Orthotic Clinical Assessment?

All orthotic candidates will go through Kintec’s one-on-one comprehensive biomechanical assessment where we go through a detailed history, perform a series of biomechanical and functional tests and perform a thorough video gait assessment.

Please note that an initial assessment will take 45-90 minutes. Once we have gathered all this information we then educate you on your biomechanics and review your treatment options with you. As not every patient will benefit medically from orthotics, other treatment options will be discussed with you if your pedorthist deems this is the case.

  • Kintec’s Certified Pedorthists work under the College of Pedorthics of Canada’s Code of Ethics, we can only build custom foot orthotics when prescribed by a medical professional qualified to diagnose a medical condition.
  • This means that a prescription from your family physician, orthopaedic surgeon, chiropractor, or physiotherapist is required for us to build custom orthotics.
